Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 9 amβ1 am. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Gainesville is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Traffic in Gainesville peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. I recently discovered this Kava Bar in Gainesville. I come from West Palm Beach area where there are 100+ kava bars all around and this one has genuinely been the best Kratom Teas I have ever had. Iβve been to dozens of kava bars but the Honey Brew Tea here is amazing! Beck the owner is a great guy and is very attentive and has an overall amazing vibe. Would recommend this place to anyone who is staying here at UF or in the Gainesville area.

I come here every single day and this place is constantly clean. Beck doesnβt even let stuff sit in the machines too long .. the standards are strict and they wipe everything down all the time. I was here the same day that other review was written and the machines were clean, period. I have pictures if anyone needs proof. Beck is a genuinely great human being. Real, respectful, and the kind of owner who actually cares about the people who come in. All the regulars love him and this bar. Itβs one of the few spots left where people from different backgrounds can just chill without the usual drama. That recent review claiming dirty equipment and some big political firing story? Itβs not accurate. Someone just got salty for their own reasons and decided to rewrite what actually happened. If you actually spend time here youβll see the complete opposite of what that review claims. 5 stars every single day. Keep doing what youβre doing, Beck π€πβ₯οΈ

Stopped by on my way through Gainesville and looking for new kava places on the way. Nice vibe, clean, great tasting teas. They've done a cinnamon & honey infusion with their k-tea that you have to try. Solid kava, and really good pricing for the serving sizes. The kava tender was knowledgeable and really friendly. Highly recommended.

Brew and Root is such an amazing coffee shop and truly deserves 5 stars. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and comfortable from the moment you walk in. Bekir is incredible, so kind, sweet, and genuinely welcoming every time. You can tell he really cares about the people who come in and wants everyone to have a great experience. The matcha is absolutely delicious and always made so well. It has quickly become one of my favorite spots to stop by, not just for the drinks, but also because of how welcomed and appreciated I feel every time Iβm there. I also love supporting a Palestinian-owned business, especially one that puts so much heart into what they do. Brew and Root is a great place with great people, great drinks, and an amazing overall vibe. I highly recommend it!
